School Budget Joint Meetings Scheduled
Tuesday, November 20 2012 -- School Superintendent Dr. Thomas Kingston announced at the School Committee meeting today that the School Committee and Board of Selectmen have scheduled three joint meetings to discuss the FY2014 budget (to be presented to Town Meeting in April 2013). The first joint meeting is set for December 10th in the Board of Selectmen meeting room at Town Hall. Future meetings are scheduled for January 14, 2013 and February 4, 2013. Further joint meetings will be scheduled as needed.

2013 Town Meeting Scheduled
Tuesday, November 20 2012 -- Put this date on your calendar! The first day of the 2013 Annual Town Meeting has been set for Monday, April 29, 2013 7:00 PM-11:00 PM. The Annual Town Meeting is when the Town Meeting considers adoption of the Town budget for the upcoming year (FY2014).

Proposed Annual Budget Transmitted to Town Meeting Members
Tuesday, May 1 2012 -- The Town of Belmont has transmitted its proposed FY2013 Annual Budget to Town Meeting Members for approval. The Town is recommending a budget of $89,241K, a growth of 2.9% from the FY2012 budget.

Belmont School Committee Approves FY2013 Budget Request
Tuesday, May 1 2012 -- The Belmont School Committee on April 24, 2012, officially approved a FY2013 Budget Request of $43,068,492 for the General Fund. This request will be reviewed at Town Meeting the week of May 14, 2012. The BPS FY2013 Budget Requst can be reviewed online at http://www.belmont.k12.ma.us.

Warrant Committee Budget Briefings for Town Meeting Members

Belmont Public Schools FY13 Public Budget Hearing
Friday, March 16 2012 -- The Belmont Public School Committee will host a Public Budget Hearing on the FY2013 BPS Budget on Tuesday, April 10th in the Large Community Room at Chenery Middle School. The event is scheduled 7:30pm - 9:30pm.

Belmont Public Schools Schedule Three Public Forums
Tuesday, Februrary 1 2011 -- The School Committee has a schedule of presentations on the budget. It is important for stakeholders to understand what this budget will mean for our K-12 students and our community.

The schedule is as follows:

• February 8, Tues, 7:30 pm: @ Beech Street Center: Budget Q&A discussion with public
• February 10, Thur, 9:00 am: @ Chenery Middle School: Budget Q&A discussion with public
• March 15, Tues, 7:30 pm: Budget public hearing

These dates are specifically for Q&A and public input.

BelmontBudget.org Launches 2011 Website
Tuesday, Februrary 1 2011 -- WWW.BelmontBudget.org is now updated for 2011 and available for members of the Belmont community to use in providing public input into the FY2012 Belmont budget process. Deciding what services the Town should provide, and how to fund those services, is one of the most important things a community can do. Through www.BelmontBudget.org, members of the Belmont community can:

• Download detailed budget information for both the Town and Schools.
• Ask questions to clarify understanding about the Belmont budget.
• Make suggestions on how and where Belmont raises revenue.
• Make suggestions on how and where Belmont spends money.

At its core, establishing the Town budget involves setting the priorities of the community. For priorities to be set, however, the public must both receive, and provide, information. BelmontBudget.org is dedicated to that give and take.
